I read an interesting article in the Houston Chronicle: “The arts have the power to open our hearts and our minds to help us imagine new possibilities for ourselves and our world.” We can see art in caves in Utah that were painted by prehistoric people. Art it is a basic fabric in our lives.
We put a lot of emphasis and money on sports but little emphasis on the arts. As a result children and adults are not as knowledgeable of the arts as they could be. By being exposed to the arts they may find a hidden talent like I did.
When I was in my forties my wife thought I had a talent for drawing based on some of my doodling. She bought me a pastel pad and pencils and I discovered I had a natural talent. Now in retirement I have an excellent hobby.
